Improving Recruiter Activation
in the First 24 h

About
Robota.ua is one of Ukraine’s largest online job platforms, connecting millions of job seekers with thousands of employers.
Internal analytics and stakeholder insights revealed a key challenge:
Challange
Recruiters managing 0–5 vacancies were more likely to abandon the platform during the first 24 hours after posting a job.
Many opted to search for candidates on competing platforms like Work.ua.
Outcome
Redesign and improve the recruiter’s experience when posting up to 5 vacancies per month on Robota.ua, with a focus on the first 24 hours after publication.
The objective was to understand how small and medium-sized employers decide between Robota.ua and its competitor Work.ua—and improve Robota.ua’s onboarding and publishing flow to increase trust, satisfaction, and performance in that critical early window.
User Research
I created a screener survey to filter recruiters who had posted 1–5 vacancies in the last 3 months, then conducted moderated in-depth interviews and created a empathy map.

Value Proposition Alignment
To align Robota.ua ’s features with recruiter expectations, I applied the Value Proposition Canvas. This helped us visualize and prioritize the intersection of user needs and business offerings. This canvas guided the team’s design decisions and helped maintain clarity when collaborating with business and product teams.

Prioritization & Direction
After mapping the value proposition, I facilitated a prioritisation session with the design team. I evaluated each idea based on user impact, technical feasibility, and alignment with business KPIs.

Providing senders a time choice
Post-Publish Progress Tracker: A visual component shown immediately after job post publication. It tracks system activity such as "Analyzing post," "Matching candidates," "Recommendations in progress." This reassures recruiters the system is working in real time.
First Candidate Recommendations: Using Robota’s matching algorithm, the system delivers first candidate cards within 1 to 3 hours. These can be bookmarked, opened, or contacted — encouraging fast recruiter action.
Smart Nudges: If no interaction happens within several hours, the system sends nudges with optimization suggestions such as
"Add a location" or "Improve job title."

Outcome
In the next phase, we conducted user testing sessions where real users interacted with our prototypes. Feedback from these sessions was mainly positive, validating our design choices and highlighting the positive impact of our user-centric approach. Hypotheses 2 (Time choice for senders) and 4 (Enhanced Parcel Management) performed exceptionally well during testing.
Additionally, thanks to the tests, we gained insights that sparked ideas for improving our design solutions
Summary
This project helped sharpen my ability to:
Connect behavioral UX research to business KPIs
Visualize uncertainty as opportunity through tools like VPC
Design UX that builds trust and momentum in early-stage user journeys
I also learned that even a small signal — like a tracker or notification — can transform user perception, reduce churn, and give life to a cold digital experience.
